3 Air Force networks nominated for excellence
12/6/2006 — SAN ANTONIO (AFPN) — Air Force officials announced the three Air Force networks that have been named as finalists in the Computer-In-Chief's Annual Award for Internet Excellence Dec. 6. The networks nominated are Columbus.AF.mil, Hurlbert.AF.mil, and MountainHome.AF.mil.
The networks were selected for "outstanding configurations, software upgrades, and commitment to excellence of our Air Force computers that maintain our operations in support of the mission of the United States Air Force," according to the Air Force message.
The award recognizes the outstanding and innovative efforts of the administrators who operate and maintain U.S. military networks. According to the Defense Department's news release announcing last year's winners, excellent networks enable better mission performance and enhance the quality of life for military men and women and their families.
This year's Internet excellence selection board will log onto the three networks between Jan. 28 and Feb. 7 to determine the Air Force's winner.
